Incoterms® 2010 rules reflect modern trends in international trade since the release of the latest edition of Incoterms in 2000. These trends include safety in shipping, as well as increased use of electronic media in making commercial contracts.
The Incoterms rules have been revised to provide more accurate and clear definitions of the terms associated with modern trade practices.
Total number of terms has been reduced from 13 to 11. Incoterms 2010 has two new terms: DAT (Delivery at Terminal) and DAP (Delivery at Place). Furthermore, the new version includes a small guide to each term to help users of Incoterms ® 2010choose the appropriate term. In particular, the new edition focused on the safety of goods and granting a regulatory status of electronic documents.
